Affiliate Marketing… and Why It Pays

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is a specific subset of marketing that allows you to sell someone else’s product and make a commission.

How Does It Work?

Typically, a company called an “affiliate network” builds two lists – one, of advertisers who want their content pushed all over the internet. And two, of publishers willing to go out and place those ads that will drive visitors to the pages in question.

Where Is the Money At?

In a classic form of arbitrage, the goal of affiliate marketers is to pay less for advertising than they make in kickbacks from sales. So, if for every $5.00 in ads you make one $6.00 sale, your profit is $1.00.

Why Is This Advantageous?

Affiliate marketers have no product, hence no inventory, no overhead, and no production costs. They are paid on a per-lead or per-sale basis, a.k.a. performance and results driven. An affiliate marketer manages his or her own destiny and is at the front lines of bringing customers to the products they need.
